We hear you when you say: “We only sell direct.”
It may be the best kept (or worst kept) secret in lumber, but nearly everybody uses wholesale trading and some use a lot. We estimate over 15 Billion board-feet of lumber was traded by wholesale traders in 2023. That’s over 2000 truckloads a day.
“We’d rather sell direct.”
We get it. So we created a better wholesale channel for when you need to leverage the resourcefulness, motivation, and hussle of a wholesale trader. What is better?
- Engage traders across more geographies and trading floors.
- Price transparency – when you confirm an order, you’ll learn the secondary resale price the trader achieved so you can better price your next loads.
- All orders you are are asked to confirm already have a PO on them.
- When you confirm, payment will be made in advance of pick-up.
If you are making any loads available to wholesale, you should also make them available to traders via Yesler.
Who can sell on Yesler?
If you sell from a long (physical) inventory position and can say “Yes” to the following, you can sell on Yesler.
- Can you accept a PO and confirm and order?
- Can your company sell on cash in advance payment terms?
- Can you accept will-call (customer pick-up) orders for truckload quantities?
Most sales people in the industry can say Yes to all of the above. After all, that’s their day job!
What does it cost?
There is no cost to Mills or suppliers. The trader takes their fee from the extra margin they get for the load. That’s how Yesler gets paid too.
What do you have to lose?
Nothing. There is only upside and no cost to you. If you are engaging wholesale traders, also engage wholesale traders via Yesler.
How do I get started?
We don’t share loads with traders without your permission. You are always in control of price and availability. After all, you are the seller. So the easiest way to start is BCC [email protected] on your next offer list you send to a wholesale trader. We’ll configure your product list and reach back out to you when it is set up. Then you can decide which loads from your list to show to traders.
